“I am not in the world simply to adapt to it, but rather transform it, and if it is not possible to change the world without a certain dream or vision for it, i must make use of every possibility there is not only to speak about my utopia, but also to engage in practices consistent with it.”
– Paulo Freire, Pedagogy of Indignation.
Strategy, plan, goal.
Beautiful words.
For someone who spent 7 years as a business analyst, these words mean a lot.
A lot of trouble.
Living in a modern world means action, success, efficiency, and productivity.
These were all created in times when we were supposed to produce infinitely. The global economy was blooming, and a new era of mass consumption came to life.
In a capitalistic, goal-driven world.
We have apartments, dogs, and kids because it was a goal, a life strategy we’re fulfilling.
This is changing nowadays. Our planet is giving us signals it can’t sustain this lifestyle of ours anymore.
And in the constant pursue to have more and more we forget to feel and play.
We often forget how to enjoy simple things in a never-ending race for accomplishments.
Were forget connection with our loved ones and nature. We lost the connection with our own bodies.
Yes, you should have a plan. How to love yourself more and the people around you.
Yes, we should have a goal. How to be more understanding towards ourselves and the ones who make mistakes.
Yes, we should all have a strategy. How to care for each other, so when the hard times come, we don’t kill but care.
And not a strategy that counts the losses. But one that celebrates successes and all the small steps we’ve bravely taken on our path.
In a world where we can’t predict anything anymore, in a world where it means less to be emotional than to be pragmatic, we should strive to be gentle. Do things at ease, not push, push, push. This led us to debt and mental draining.
Let’s switch motivation & discipline with self-leadership.
Let’s focus consistency onto self-care.
The world is changing, if we want it or not. We can’t go on like that anymore.
I want to be that change for myself above all.
I’m tired of chasing someone’s mastermind game.
I want to see a world where femininity is valued equally as masculinity.
This is a note to me.
So I don’t get dragged into anyone’s strategy again.
And a year from now, I will celebrate being and doing ME.
In the photo me during one of countless moments shared with my recently passed doggo. A special, lively creature, whose life ended on my hands in April 2023. Thank you for existing in my life Juma. Sleep well.
